This cemetery contains the remains of Thomas Branch, his first wife, Mary E. Huff, and their daughter Corener H. Branch who died with diptheria. The names of all three appear on a single long stone, CWS f BCV, p. 73. |
This Thomas Branch is likely the son of Miles B. Branch Sr. whose son Miles B. Branch Jr. was residing in 1850 with George W. Green who is buried here also. Green was brother-in-law to Miles and Thomas, he having married Rebecca Ann Branch 27 March (bond) 1845. |
Although available census records from 1850 through 1910 place Thomas Branch's birth in 1833, a Confederate private by the name of Thomas C. Branch stated in his service application that he was born in 1838, the date that appears on the stone here. |
Presumably they are one in the same man and he adjusted his date for some unknown reason. |
