Jones - Powell - Hamlin - Peace - Hurt Family Cemetery

Located on Fort Pickett off an unnamed dirt road running perpendicular to
Jeb Stuart Road approx. 118 meters north of the intersection of Jeb Stuart Rd. (Route 645). The cemetery is well maintained but not in use and is
surrounded by a barbed wire fence approx. 17 by 50 meters in size. FPHC, pp. 16-22, FPVC, pp. 9-10. |

The first recorded burial here is an infant daughter of James L. Powell in 1865, suggesting it was first a Powell family cemetery. Powell's wife was Cornelia Peace whose unmarried brother John and sister Christiana are also here. |
Not until the late 19th Century were Jones interred here, presumably because they purchased the farm on which the cemetery resided. |
They were possibly connected with Mary Ann Elizabeth Jones, mother of Cornelia, Christiana, and John Peace. |
