Tatum Family Cemetery

The cemetery is approx 30ft x 100ft and contains only 1 headstone, a Veterans Administration issued upright military marker for Pvt. William Batte Tatum, who served in Company G, 21st Virginia Infantry, the Brunswick Grays, Confederate States Army. Approx 35 other graves are here as evidenced by field stones and uniform depressions.
The cemetery is located on the west side of Christanna Hwy (Rt. 46), approx 0.7 mi south of the intersection of Christanna Hwy and Dry Bread Road, (area known as “South Brunswick”). The cemetery is situated in a heavily wooded area approx. 300 yards behind a house with the address of 8567 Christanna Hwy, Gasburg, VA. |

According to CWS, Pvt. Tatum's wife, Louisa Ann Ruffin Carpenter, is buried here, but she is in James Square Baptist Church, about 1 mile away.
